Bishop Isaiah Leon Roberts
Isaiah Leon Roberts was born February 2, 1912 in Memphis, TN. He was four years old, when he accompanied his father from Memphis to Chicago, to begin the work of planting the work now known as Roberts Temple and Northern Illinois. Isaiah Roberts was appointed to a tiny church on the south end of the city at 9230 South State St. After the passing of his Father, Bishop Williams Roberts in 1954, Elder Isaiah Roberts pastored Roberts Temple. Under his leadership, Roberts temple became known as Chicago’s continuous revival center, hosting such evangelists as G.E. Patterson, R.D. Henton, William James and others. He hosted the National broadcast of the fiftieth International Convocation in Memphis TN. In Northern Illinois, he served as State Evangelist, State Chairman, Assistant Overseer and finally, State Bishop from 1979 until his passing in November 1989.
