Bishop Cain Scott

Cain Scott was born in Mississippi in 1898. He was saved in 1918 under Elder James Lee, and moved to Chicago in 1923.  He served as a deacon and minister under Bishop Roberts, and was sent to the Morgan Park community.  He worked hard along with his wife, Mildred Scott and preached out a church, building an edifice at 1101 West 111th Place. Elder Scott served as Assistant Overseer for seven years. Around 1949, in addition to the Morgan Park church, Elder Scott was called upon to pastor Prayer Garden at 5801 South State Street. He established Bible institutes in both churches. Bishop Charles Harrison Mason appointed Assistant Overseer Cain Scott as the second Bishop of Northern Illinois on May 15, 1954.  His theme was, “Be Not Slothful in Business: For the King’s Business requires Haste.” Then, weeks before his first Holy Convocation, Bishop Scott passed away on July 15, 1955.
